Agartala, Oct 2: Police detained a youth after he was found standing with a pistol tucked into his waist in front of the Agartala Town Hall, officials said on Thursday. The weapon was later found to be a fake pistol.
According to police, the youth allegedly used the imitation firearm to intimidate people on different occasions. Acting on suspicion, personnel from East Agartala Police Station detained him and recovered the pistol during a search.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the recovered weapon was not a genuine firearm. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are questioning the detained youth to ascertain where he obtained the fake pistol and whether it had been used in any previous incidents.
