Agartala, October 3: The Tipra Motha Party has claimed that it is set to win more than 470 Village Committees (VCs) following the recently held elections, while putting the tally for the NDA at around 500.
The claim came after a review meeting held by the party on Friday to assess the election situation and the likely results.
Party leaders said around 200 Village Committees had already been secured uncontested. Based on their assessment of the remaining contests, they expect Tipra Motha to control at least 470 Village Committees once the votes are counted.
The party also claimed that the NDA tally could reach at least 500 Village Committees. Leaders stressed that the final numbers would be known only after the counting process is completed.
The claims have not yet been confirmed by the official election results.
Tipra Motha also appealed to the State Election Commission and the local administration to ensure that counting is conducted peacefully.
Party leaders said they had urged district magistrates, superintendents of police and other concerned officials to take necessary measures to maintain order and ensure a smooth counting process.
