Agartala, October 4: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has directed the authorities to take immediate steps to bring back the body of a tribal youth from Tripura who died in Hyderabad on October 2.
Bipas Debbarma, a resident of Baishya Para under Champahour police station in Khowai subdivision, had travelled to Hyderabad as a migrant worker in search of employment. According to information received from his co-workers, he died after suffering from severe diarrhoea.
His body is currently at Gandhi Hospital in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The family, which is reportedly financially distressed, was unable to bear the cost of transporting the body back to Tripura.
MDC Rajeshwar Debbarma brought the matter to the Chief Minister’s attention and sought government assistance to repatriate the body at state expense. In a letter to Saha, Debbarma said the deceased was the son of Braja Kumar Debbarma and urged the government to coordinate with the Telangana authorities for the return of the body to his native village.
Acting on the request, the Chief Minister directed the concerned officials to take all necessary steps to bring the body back to Tripura.
“On receiving the request, I immediately instructed the concerned authorities to take all necessary steps to bring back his body,” Saha said.
The Chief Minister also expressed condolences to the bereaved family, saying his thoughts and prayers were with them during the difficult time.
