Agartala, September 15: Residents have raised concerns over waste disposal and maintenance around a park developed under the Smart City project in Battala.
The park is located beside the Battala fish market. Residents said fish waste, packaging materials and other discarded items are seen along the park boundary and the adjoining road.
Some residents said the waste remains uncleared for periods of time and causes an unpleasant smell. Residents also said empty liquor bottles and other discarded items have been found inside and around the park.
Residents further said gatherings take place at the park during evening hours. Some residents alleged that alcohol and other substances are consumed during such gatherings.
Residents also raised concerns about waste disposal near the fish market, saying waste is sometimes left along the road and near the park boundary.
Residents have requested the Agartala Municipal Corporation and Smart City authorities to improve waste collection and disposal in the area. They also called for regular maintenance and monitoring of the park during evening hours.
