New Delhi, 18 September : Tripura has emerged as the leading state in the Northeast in utilisation of central funds issued for Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) for the financial year 2026-27.
According to the report, presented at the Food Secretaries Conference, Tripura recorded actual expenditure of ₹17.10 crore against a Sanction of ₹39.82 crore, translating into 42.9 per cent expenditure of the sanctioned amount.
Meghalaya, which received a sanctioned of ₹32.83 crore, recorded expenditure of ₹3.29 crore, or 10 per cent of the sanctioned amount. Manipur followed with ₹2.73 crore spent against ₹32.77 crore sanctioned, registering 8.3 per cent expenditure.
Sikkim recorded actual expenditure of ₹0.41 crore against a sanction of ₹6.15 crore, with utilisation standing at 6.7 per cent. Mizoram spent ₹0.75 crore of its ₹11.50 crore sanction, translating into 6.5 per cent expenditure.
Nagaland recorded no actual expenditure against its ₹21.36 crore sanctioned with utilisation at zero per cost.
The six Northeastern states together received ₹144.43 crore.
Tripura has recorded the highest expenditure share among the states. Nagaland has yet to register any spending against its sanctioned amount.
