Agartala, September 15 : Tripura BJP president Abhishek Debroy on Tuesday warned that the party would take action against workers involved in anti-party activities, amid complaints of factionalism and non-compliance with directions issued by mandal-level leadership.
Addressing reporters at the state BJP headquarters, Debroy said the party constitutes its organisational committees every three years. He clarified that a worker’s name being absent from a newly formed committee does not mean that the person has been removed from the party.
On mandal committees, he said the organisational process follows prescribed procedures and is monitored at the central level. Any complaints or dissatisfaction would be looked into, he added.
Debroy stressed the need for discipline within the organisation and said appropriate action would be taken against anyone found engaging in activities against the party.
The BJP leader was speaking at a press conference mainly convened to outline the party’s month-long programmes marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The programmes will be held across Tripura from September 17 to October 17 and include drawing competitions, ‘Namo Seva’ initiatives, programmes at anganwadi centres and a ‘Seva Mashaal’ march.
Speaking about Modi’s political career, Debroy said the Prime Minister had served as Chief Minister and Prime Minister for an extended period. He alleged that the country had witnessed several corruption cases and scandals before 2014.
He claimed that India had become stronger under Modi’s leadership and that a “new and resurgent India” had emerged.
Debroy said the month-long programmes were aimed at increasing public participation and awareness across the state.
Tribal Morcha leader Bipin Debbarma was also present at the press conference.
