Agartala, September 9: The Tipra Motha Party held a victory rally in the Lefunga block area on Wednesday following the scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming Village Council elections. The rally featured candidates who were declared elected unopposed.
Party workers and supporters celebrated by bursting firecrackers during the rally. Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Chief Executive Member Runiel Debbarma was present at the programme.
According to party sources, scrutiny of nomination papers for the Village Council elections was completed on Wednesday. A total of 80 nomination papers were submitted from 10 Village Councils under the Lefunga block. The party said all the nominations were accepted following scrutiny.
Soon after the scrutiny process ended, the party organised the victory rally with the candidates who had secured unopposed victories. Local party leaders, workers, supporters and elected Village Council members took part in the procession.
Tipra Motha’s Lefunga Block Committee president Dipak Debbarma was also present.
Speaking to the media after the rally, TTAADC CEM Runiel Debbarma congratulated the party workers and supporters on the results. He said the elected representatives would work through the Village Councils for the development of the area and welfare of local residents.
