Agartala, September 20: The NCC’s role goes beyond military training and aims to develop young people into disciplined, responsible and patriotic citizens, Major General Anurag Vij, Additional Director General of NCC, Northeast Directorate, said on Sunday.
Vij was speaking to reporters after arriving in Tripura and attending a cadet conference and training programme organised for personnel of NCC 15 Battalion at Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas in Agartala.
The programme included training sessions and guidance for cadets on various aspects of NCC activities.
Vij said the NCC was not intended solely to prepare young people for careers in the armed forces. The organisation also focuses on discipline, unity, patriotism, leadership and a sense of responsibility among cadets.
He said the broader objective was to help young people develop into responsible citizens who could contribute positively to society.
Vij also said the NCC was updating its training programmes in response to changing technology and emerging requirements. Cadets are now being introduced to modern technologies, including drones, along with practical training in various fields.
Such initiatives are aimed at equipping young people with skills and confidence to meet future challenges and encouraging them to become more self-reliant and responsible, he said.
