Agartala, September 20: The body of health worker Jiban Chowdhury, who had been missing since Vishwakarma Puja night, was recovered from Dumbur Reservoir on Sunday morning, bringing an end to the search for him.
According to police, Chowdhury had been untraceable since the night of the festival. His family and others had been searching for him, but no information about his whereabouts was available.
On Sunday morning, local residents noticed a body floating in the reservoir and alerted the authorities. Police personnel reached the spot and recovered the body from the water.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination. Following completion of the examination, the body was handed over to the family.
Police have yet to establish how Chowdhury died. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
The news of his death has cast a pall of grief over the family and the local community.
