Agartala, September 19: The Tripura State Election Commission has completed the process of identifying polling stations for the upcoming elections to 21 urban local bodies and issued the draft notification for 784 polling stations across the state.
SEC secretary Anurag Sen said on Friday that district magistrates, acting as District Municipal Election Officers, had issued the draft polling station notifications for all 21 urban bodies, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation, municipal councils and nagar panchayats.
The draft notification allows eligible individuals and organisations to file claims and objections regarding the proposed polling stations. The deadline for submitting objections is September 21.
The respective urban local bodies will examine and dispose of the claims and objections by September 23, following which the final polling station notification will be issued on September 25.
However, the SEC has not yet issued detailed guidelines covering the overall municipal election process.
Sen said the guidelines could not be released immediately as approvals from the competent authorities and certain administrative and procedural formalities were still pending. Further details will be announced once the required approvals are in place.
