Agartala, September 14: The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched an initiative to rebuild old and dilapidated ward offices and construct new ones where dedicated facilities are unavailable, Mayor Dipak Majumder said on Monday.
A Bhumi Pujan ceremony was held for the Ward No. 34 office on AMC-owned land opposite Battala Mahashmashan. The new office will be developed to serve residents at the local level.
Mayor Dipak Majumder, Ward No. 34 corporator Jahnabi Das Chowdhury, corporator Nitu Guha De and other AMC officials and elected representatives attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the programme, Majumder said the corporation has already constructed 15 ward offices across Agartala. The latest initiative aims to replace ageing facilities and strengthen services closer to residents.
He said the upgraded ward offices would help people address local issues more efficiently without having to visit the corporation’s central office for routine matters.
Once completed, the Ward No. 34 office is expected to provide residents with easier access to municipal facilities.
