Agartala, October 7: Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday said the government’s priority was to ensure welfare schemes and public services reached the last person, including those living in remote areas.
Saha was speaking after inaugurating the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha and Seva Jyoti Yatra at Shishu Udyan here.
He said the yatra was aimed at strengthening the link between rural and urban communities and taking government schemes closer to beneficiaries.
“The Seva Jyoti Yatra is an effort to reach people with public services, welfare measures and government initiatives,” Saha said.
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 required wider public participation. Development, he said, should encompass economic growth, social justice, equality, education, healthcare, technology and environmental protection.
“Our main objective is to ensure that no one is left behind in the development process,” he said.
Saha also marked October 7 as an important milestone in Modi’s political career. He said Modi took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, before serving as Prime Minister.
“Today marks 25 years of Narendra Modi’s public service. His commitment to public service will remain an inspiration for all of us,” Saha said.
He said a month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan was launched on September 17 to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday.
Saha also called for greater youth participation in service activities and said the government was working on the principles of reform, implementation and transformation.
BJP state president Abhishek Debroy, Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Agartala Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, MLA Ratan Chakraborty and senior party leaders attended the programme.
