Agartala, September 16: The Tripura State Election Commission has announced the schedule for finalising polling stations for the 2026 municipal elections in the state.
According to a notification issued by State Election Commissioner Dr P. K. Chakraborty, the draft list of polling stations will be published on September 17. Claims, objections and suggestions on the draft list will be accepted until September 21.
The authorities will dispose of the claims and objections by September 23, with the final polling station list scheduled to be published on September 25.
The notification has been issued under Rule 3 of the Tripura Municipalities (Conduct of Election) Rules, 1995. District Municipal Election Officers, who are also the respective district magistrates, will publish the polling station lists for different municipal wards in accordance with Rule 7 of the Tripura Municipalities (Registration of Electors) Rules, 1995.
The Commission has informed the district election authorities in North Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai, Khowai, West Tripura, Sepahijala, Gomati and South Tripura districts, along with the concerned subdivision-level election authorities.
The notification has also been sent to the Director of General Administration (Printing and Stationery) for publication in an extra edition of the Tripura Gazette.
The publication of the final polling station list on September 25 will mark a key step in preparations for the 2026 municipal elections.
