Agartala, September 15 : Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Manik Saha on Tuesday directed the administration to take a more proactive and responsive approach to issues directly affecting the public and ensure their prompt resolution.

Saha issued the directions at a Task Monitoring System (TMS) meeting held at the state Secretariat, where the functioning of the TMS portal and monitoring of issues related to government departments on social and electronic media were reviewed.

The Chief Minister said officials should identify public problems on their own instead of waiting for media reports or complaints from residents. He also stressed the need for coordination and accountability at all levels of the administration.

Saha directed district magistrates to regularly review the overall situation in their respective districts and ensure necessary action on important issues. He also called for action against unlicensed spa centres operating in different parts of the state.

On traffic management, the Chief Minister directed the SP (Traffic) to inspect the situation in the Golbazar area and take measures to address illegal parking.

Saha also reviewed healthcare-related issues and stressed the need to keep trauma centres functional and prepared to respond to accidents and other emergencies. He called for regular awareness programmes on non-communicable diseases and greater vigilance to control malaria.

The meeting also reviewed the maintenance of Bailey bridges across the state. Saha directed the concerned departments to repair bridges requiring urgent attention to ensure safe transportation.

On human-elephant conflict, the Chief Minister asked the Forest Department and other concerned officials to take proactive measures in populated areas. He suggested seeking expert advice and technical assistance where necessary and stressed the need for long-term solutions based on local conditions.

Saha also directed officials to regularly review the functioning of smart classrooms in schools and submit performance reports on their implementation.

The Chief Minister further asked departments to ensure that administrative procedures do not prevent sportspersons from participating in events or pursuing their careers. Officials were directed to avoid unnecessary delays that could result in players missing opportunities.

Saha said the TMS was intended to monitor the progress of administrative work and ensure timely resolution of issues affecting the public. He directed departments to complete assigned tasks within the stipulated time and said negligence and unnecessary delays would not be tolerated.

District magistrates and police officials from across the state joined the meeting virtually. Principal secretaries, secretaries, directors and other senior officials of various departments were also present.
