Belonia, September 9: With the TTAADC Village Committee Elections scheduled for September 28, 2026, the South Tripura District Police on Wednesday reviewed the prevailing law and order situation and security arrangements at a district crime conference held at the SP Office Conference Hall in Belonia.
The conference was chaired by Mourya Krishna C, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Tripura District, and focused on crime trends, public safety and preparations for conducting the elections peacefully.
In South Tripura, polling will be held across 70 Village Committees, 306 constituencies and 538 seats, with 177 polling stations. Across Tripura, the elections will cover 587 Village Committees, 2,634 constituencies and 4,597 seats. The final electoral rolls include 9,61,977 electors, while 1,550 polling stations have been identified statewide.
Polling will take place from 7 am to 4 pm on September 28, with counting of votes scheduled for October 5, 2026.
Reviewing the security arrangements, the Superintendent of Police said adequate personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Tripura State Rifles and district police would be deployed to ensure the security of every polling station in South Tripura. Around 1,200 security personnel are expected to be deployed for the election.
Polling stations have been categorised as hyper-critical, sensitive and normal, with security deployment planned according to the level of vulnerability. Strong rooms at the block level will be protected by armed guards and kept under round-the-clock surveillance.
As part of the pre-election security measures, police will conduct area domination exercises, mobile patrolling and intensified vehicle checking at nakas, including inter-district and border checkpoints. Preventive action is also being taken against individuals and elements considered likely to disrupt public peace.
The police will also strictly enforce the Model Code of Conduct and step up checks to prevent the movement of illegal arms, narcotics, liquor and unaccounted cash during the election period.
The Superintendent of Police directed all SDPOs and Officers-in-Charge to take firm action against criminal elements, maintain law and order within their respective jurisdictions and ensure close coordination with the civil administration and election authorities.

The conference was attended by the Additional Superintendent of Police, SDPOs, Officers-in-Charge and headquarters officers.
