Two Arrested in Attack on Two Contractors in Bishramganj

Bishramganj, September 9: Police have arrested two persons in connection with the alleged attack on two contractors and vandalism of their vehicle outside the Bishramganj RD Division office.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted an operation early Wednesday and arrested the two accused from a forested area in Nonjala.

According to police, the incident took place on August 24, when a group of youths allegedly attacked Bishalgarh-based contractor Plabon Saha and his associate, Sagar Nath, outside the Bishramganj RD Division office. Both reportedly sustained injuries, while their vehicle was also damaged.

Following the incident, Bishramganj police registered a case suo motu against seven persons. The case has been registered as Bishramganj Police Station Case No. 31/2026. Police said the accused had been absconding since the incident.

Based on information about their whereabouts, a police team led by Bishramganj police station officer-in-charge Ajit Debbarma conducted a raid in the Nonjala area and arrested Surendra Riyan and Phani Roy Debbarma.

The two were brought to Bishramganj police station and taken into custody.

The officer-in-charge said the arrested accused would be produced before the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. Police are continuing efforts to arrest the remaining accused in the case.

Police said further legal action would follow in accordance with the law.
