Dharmanagar, September 9: A Tom-Tom driver was allegedly assaulted on a public road in the Office Tilla area of Dharmanagar, triggering tension in the locality.
The incident reportedly took place near the Kali Temple. A complaint has been lodged at Dharmanagar Police Station against the owner of Shivam Glass House in connection with the alleged assault.
According to local sources, an argument broke out between the Tom-Tom driver and the owner of the glass house. The situation reportedly turned heated, following which the driver was allegedly dragged onto the road and beaten.
Following the incident, the driver went to Dharmanagar Police Station and lodged a complaint. Police have reportedly registered a case based on his complaint.
A staff member of Shivam Glass House was also reportedly present during the incident. The complainant has claimed that the employee admitted to the assault. Police have yet to verify the claim during the investigation.
The accused party’s statement has not been received so far. Police investigation is expected to establish the exact circumstances and reason behind the incident.
