Khowai, September 11: The Khowai District Youth Congress and Tripura Pradesh Congress organised a six-hour sit-in protest at Nipen Chakraborty Avenue in Khowai on Thursday, raising a range of demands and drawing attention to several issues facing the state.
Tripura Youth Congress president Neelkamal Saha, Khowai District Youth Congress president Sanjay Singh Chowdhury, Pradesh Youth Congress general secretary Sagarika Sen and other Congress leaders, workers and supporters took part in the programme.
The protesters highlighted various demands of job aspirants, including the appointment of candidates who have qualified in the Primary Teacher Recruitment Examination and those who have cleared the first and second levels of the Teacher Eligibility Test.
Speakers at the protest also raised several other issues concerning the state and urged the government to take prompt steps to address them.
The six-hour programme drew a sizeable gathering of Congress workers and supporters. Party leaders called on the government to act on the demands raised during the protest and address the concerns of job seekers without further delay.
