Mumbai, Sep 13 (IANS) Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive and public-centric leadership since 2014, stating that this marked an end to three systematic evils from India’s political space, particularly dynasty politics, casteism and corruption and added that this has been replaced by ‘politics of performance’.
He also gave an account of the transformation for the poor and marginalised classes while highlighting that the Prime Minister’s focus of governance remained ‘seva’ of the backward and downtrodden, stating that this objective of public service will remain the focus of the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan.
The Home Minister, briefing the media in Mumbai about the contours of the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan, also spoke about PM Modi’s vow of ‘Pradhan Sevak’ and listed the countless benefits received by poor households under his government.
He said that ever since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, he introduced himself from the ramparts of the Red Fort as the ‘Pradhan Sevak’ and all these years, he firmly worked to realise this vision.
He inspired the 140 crore citizens of the country to live the dream of “Viksit Bharat” and also work towards building it by August 15, 2047.
“I believe that very few leaders have led this country in such a distinctive manner since Independence,” he stated.
Speaking about upliftment of citizens, Amit Shah said, “Today, the government is covering full medical treatment expenses of up to Rs 5 lakh for 54 crore people. For the first time after 75 years of Independence, tap water has reached 16 crore households. 13 crore farmers are receiving Rs 6,000 annually under the PM-Kisan Samman scheme. By constructing toilets in 13 crore homes, we have brought dignity to the daughters and mothers of these households.”
“GST eliminated 16 different purchase taxes, realising the dream of “One Nation, One Tax. The JAM Trinity—Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile—laid a strong foundation for digital governance. Banking sector reforms pulled India out of the NPA crisis, bringing public sector undertakings back to profitability. Record FDI, PLI, and Make in India have transformed the country into a credible global manufacturing and export hub. The pace of infrastructure development — across roads, railways, airports, Metro networks, ports, waterways, and digital infrastructure — has accelerated dramatically,” he pointed out.
HM Shah also said that not only have the living standards of poor households been improved, but the government has consistently worked to make the country an economic powerhouse while the powers driven from the Constitution have been utilised to streamline internal security and resolve decades-long and deep-festering issues.
