Dharmanagar, August 10: The Tripura Pradesh Congress organised a six-hour mass sit-in demonstration in Dharmanagar on Thursday, demanding mandatory Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) for government jobs, immediate recruitment of candidates who have cleared TET-1 and TET-2, and several other demands.
The protest was held at the Dharmanagar Congress Bhavan premises under the initiative of the Tripura Pradesh Congress. Congress leaders, workers and members of the Youth Congress took part in the programme, which began in the morning.
The party demanded that PRTC be made mandatory for recruitment to government posts in the state. It also called for the immediate appointment of candidates who have qualified in TET-1 and TET-2 and have been waiting for recruitment for a long time.
The Pradesh Congress further demanded an immediate end to what it termed the misuse of the state’s recruitment policy. The party stressed the need for transparency in the recruitment process and urged the government to ensure that eligible candidates receive a fair opportunity.
Congress leaders also called for expediting the recruitment of job aspirants who have been waiting for appointments for a prolonged period.
A sizeable gathering of Congress workers and Youth Congress members was seen at the Dharmanagar Congress Bhavan during the six-hour programme. The party warned that if its demands are not addressed promptly, it would launch a larger movement across the state in the coming days.
