Agartala, September 10: The Tripura State Committee of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) submitted a deputation to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Law and Order, on Wednesday, alleging repeated attacks on SFI activists and students at various educational institutions across the state.
In a memorandum, the organisation alleged that a series of incidents had taken place inside and outside educational institutions over the past two weeks. SFI named Charilam English Medium School, Bharat Chandra Nagar School, MBB College, Ramthakur College and Ramkrishna College among the institutions where such incidents were reported.
SFI claimed that police cases and FIRs had been filed in several incidents. The organisation also said the names and addresses of the alleged accused were included in the complaints. Despite this, SFI alleged that no arrests had been made so far.
The organisation said the delay in police action had created a sense of insecurity among students. It also alleged that the democratic environment on educational campuses was being affected, with students facing obstacles in expressing their views, organising peacefully and participating in democratic activities.
The memorandum further alleged that repeated incidents of violence, coupled with what SFI described as police inaction, had raised concerns over the safety of students and the campus environment.
SFI urged the IGP, Law and Order, to take the matter seriously and direct the concerned police officers to initiate prompt and effective action in the cases.
The allegations were made by SFI, and no independent confirmation of the claims was provided in the memorandum.
