Jaipur, Sep 9 (IANS): Police are examining DNA samples, forensic evidence and CCTV footage in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a three-year-old girl in Rajasthan’s Kota, as investigators work to identify the suspected accused.

The child’s young age has made it difficult for her to provide details of the incident, prompting police to rely on scientific and other corroborative evidence.

A highly sensitive case involving the alleged sexual abuse of a three-year-old girl has come to light in Kota district.

Following a complaint by the child’s family, police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections and launched an investigation.

Given the child’s young age, she is reportedly unable to clearly describe what happened.

Investigators are therefore relying on medical examination findings, DNA samples, CCTV footage and other forensic evidence to identify the suspected accused.

The alleged incident came to light after the family took the child to a paediatrician when she fell ill.

During the examination, the doctor noticed pain and swelling around the child’s waist and genital area and suspected possible sexual assault.

The doctor subsequently informed the family, following which they approached the police.

A formal complaint was then registered and an investigation was initiated.

Kota City Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam said that a case has been registered under the POCSO Act and other applicable provisions.

The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of Mukesh Sankhla, Additional Superintendent of Police of the Women’s Harassment Investigation Cell.

According to the family, the child generally stays at home and attends only a play school located near their residence.

Based on this information, police have collected DNA samples from certain male staff members of the school as well as other relevant individuals.

An FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team has also examined the relevant location and collected evidence as part of the investigation.

Police are examining the forensic evidence and DNA samples to determine whether they match any of the individuals under suspicion.

CCTV footage from the area is also being reviewed to establish the child’s movements and identify anyone who may have come into contact with her.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are yet to confirm the identity of the accused.

Further details are expected once the forensic and other evidence is analysed.
