Bareilly, Sep 12 (IANS): All India Muslim Jamaat National President Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi on Saturday extended his support to the BJP’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, saying that the initiative was a positive step that should be appreciated.

Speaking to IANS, Maulana Shahabuddin said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the Seva Sankalp Yatra, and along with its launch, he has instructed all people and government officials to go among the public, visit cities and villages, and work among the people to promote, explain and provide information about government schemes.”

“This is a good step and should be appreciated, because government schemes, whether of the state government or the central government, are for the welfare and well-being of the people, and it is also the responsibility of the government to work keeping the interests of the people in mind. I support the Seva Sankalp Yatra,” he added.

The BJP is set to launch a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 – the PM’s birthday – to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Modi’s completion of 25 years in public life. The campaign will feature a series of service-oriented initiatives and public outreach programmes across the country.

Announcing the campaign in New Delhi on Wednesday, September 9, BJP President Nitin Nabin said PM Modi would complete 25 years in public service on October 7. The date marks the anniversary of PM Modi taking the oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001.

Nabin said PM Modi’s political journey over the past 25 years had been guided by the principle of moving from public service to national service. He said the BJP would use the campaign to take the message of service and dedication to people across the country.

The campaign will begin on September 17, which the BJP observes as ‘Seva Diwas’ to mark PM Modi’s birthday. Blood donation camps will be organised across the country as part of the opening programme.

At 7 p.m. on September 17, the BJP will also organise ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’, under which lamps will be lit at party booths as a mark of gratitude for Modi’s 25 years of public service.

From September 17 to October 7, schools will host drawing and speech competitions on the theme ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat’, providing children an opportunity to present their vision for the country. Music and theatre performances will also be organised under the ‘Namo Seva–Ankahi Kahaniyan’ initiative.

From September 25 to October 7, the BJP will conduct ‘Aangan Milan Seva’, under which Anganwadi and ASHA workers will be honoured.

On October 2, the party will organise a cleanliness drive, while October 7 will feature the ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’, during which participants will take a pledge towards the goal of a developed India.

The BJP plans to organise 25 different service activities during the month-long campaign. Under the ‘Seva Setu Abhiyan’, camps will be held at the block level to help people access benefits available under various government schemes.

The campaign will conclude on October 17 with a ‘Sushasan Seva Samvad’, focusing on good governance and public service.
