Hyderabad, Sep 10 (IANS) : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders on Thursday staged a protest over the purported allotment of government land to a company allegedly linked to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
BRS leaders led by party Working President K.T. Rama Rao visited the land allegedly allotted to Tesseract Advanced Systems Private Limited in Raviryala village, Maheshwaram mandal, Ranga Reddy district.
The main Opposition party alleged that land worth about ₹200 crore had been allotted to Tesseract for just Rs 7 crore. The party accused the Chief Minister of facilitating the allotment for the benefit of his family members.
As the BRS MLAs were suspended from the Assembly for rest of the Monsoon Session for disrupting the proceedings, demanding action against the alleged assault on party legislators at the Assembly gate on September 7, a meeting of the BRS Legislature Party was held at the residence of Rama Rao to decide the future course of action.
After the meeting, a delegation of BRS leaders led by K.T. Rama Rao left for Raviryala village on the city’s outskirts to see the plot allegedly allotted to Tesseract.
Meanwhile, BRS members staged a walkout from the Legislative Council over the issue of alleged land allotment to Tesseract.
The BRS members demanded a discussion on the alleged allotment and raised slogans in support of their demand.
BRS leader in the Council, Madhusudhana Chary alleged that a shell company which does not have a single employee was allotted government land worth ₹200 crore.
The BRS lodged their protest when Chairman G. Sukhender Reddy cut the mike as Chary took the name of Kondal Reddy.
The BRS leader took exception to the manner in which the proceedings were conducted. He alleged that their rights were being suppressed with the use of marshals.
Last month, K.T. Rama Rao alleged that the Tesseract land deal was bigger than the MUDA case in Karnataka.
“How can a company with just ₹1 lakh in paid-up capital and reportedly zero employees get 5 acres of land worth ₹200 crore for ₹7 crore,” he asked.
The BRS also complained to the Lokayukta over the alleged “illegal” allotment of land. The party delegation demanded that pending an enquiry, the allocation of five acres of land must be cancelled. It sought a comprehensive probe under the Lokayukta Act into the roles of Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and TGIIC officials.
Minister Sridhar Babu denied the allegation and accused K.T. Rama Rao of misleading people with false allegations on land allocation.
Alleging that the previous government of BRS allotted lands for only ₹90 lakh per acre, he said the present government allotted land for ₹1.50 crore per acre.
The minister claimed that the land was allotted strictly in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations.
Stating that five acres were allotted for ₹7.5 crore, he asked K.T. Rama Rao to clarify where from he got the figure of Rs.200 crore from.
